Aion 2 Tier List
Every launch class ranked from S to C tier for PvE, PvP, and solo play — based on launch community consensus from r/Aion2 and streamer tier lists. Updated after every balance patch.
Last updated:
Quick answer: Spiritmaster is the best all-round main at launch — S tier for solo, PvE and PvP. Gladiator is the safest melee pick, Chanter never waits for a group. Everything else depends on how you like to play.
SS Tier — Meta Defining
The strongest classes right now. Spiritmaster dominates solo play with pets that trivialize content, Gladiator pairs top-tier melee damage with bruiser durability, and Chanter’s party-wide buffs multiply the whole group’s damage. These three warp the meta around themselves: groups are built to include them, and balance discussions start with them. Pick one of these and you cannot go wrong — each is the safest recommendation in its role.
AA Tier — Excellent
Strong in the right hands and always welcome in groups. Cleric is the only true main healer and non-negotiable for hard content, Templar is the best pure tank with the most secure group slot in the game, and Assassin owns the highest burst damage for players who can handle the execution demand. A-tier classes are not weaker versions of S tier — they are specialists that dominate their niche while asking more from the player.
BB Tier — Viable
Perfectly playable, but outshone by higher tiers in the current meta. Ranger is the most beginner-friendly damage dealer with consistent ranged output, and Sorcerer brings the highest area damage in the game when protected. Both are honest picks that will clear all content — they simply lack the meta-warping edge of the tiers above. Great choices for players who value comfort over optimization.
CC Tier — Struggling
No launch class falls here yet. This row is reserved for post-patch shakeups — when balance changes land, classes that lose their niche will drop here, and the list will explain exactly why. An empty C tier at launch is normal: with only eight classes and no balance patches yet, nothing has had the chance to fall behind.

Best class by content type
| Content | Top pick | Runner-up |
|---|---|---|
| Solo PvE / farming | Spiritmaster | Gladiator |
| Group PvE (dungeons) | Chanter | Cleric |
| PvP | Gladiator | Assassin |
If you mostly play solo, avoid party-dependent picks — Chanter and Templar feel weak without a group backing them up.
Quick decision framework
Step 1 — Pick your role fantasy first. Numbers shift after balance patches. Role preference doesn’t.
| You want to… | Play… |
|---|---|
| Tank and control fights | Templar |
| Deal damage up close | Gladiator, Assassin |
| Deal damage from range | Ranger, Sorcerer |
| Heal and save groups | Cleric |
| Buff and enable the team | Chanter |
| Command pets | Spiritmaster |
Step 2 — Be honest about experience. New to the game? Gladiator, Ranger or Chanter are the most forgiving trio. Assassin punishes beginners harder than any other class.
Step 3 — Solo or group? Mostly solo → Spiritmaster, Gladiator, Ranger. Static group → Cleric, Templar, Chanter.
How this tier list works
Rankings reflect the launch meta across four dimensions: solo progression, dungeon PvE, PvP, and group value — how much a party actually wants you. A higher tier means an easier class to recommend across more of the game, not just bigger damage numbers.
Tiers move after balance patches, and a new class can enter S tier after a single patch — check the last-updated date before locking in your main.
What about Brawler?
Brawler launched in the Korean version in July 2026 and is not yet available on global servers, so it is not ranked here. The list will be updated when Brawler arrives internationally.
How to use this tier list
Start with the content you will actually play. If you mostly play alone, weight the solo rankings heaviest — a class that is S tier in groups but miserable alone is a bad main for a solo player. If you have a static group, talk to them first: a coordinated party can make any A-tier class feel S tier, and no tier list overrides a group that plays well together.
Then be honest about difficulty. Assassin is S tier in the right hands and a liability in the wrong ones — the tier assumes competent play. A beginner on Gladiator will outperform a beginner on Assassin every time, even though both sit near the top of the list. The best class is the highest-tier one you will actually enjoy playing for a hundred hours. When in doubt, click through to the full class guides below — each one breaks down PvE, PvP, solo play, and the mistakes that hold players back.
Patch history
October 2026 — Global launch: the initial tier list ranks all 8 launch classes. Spiritmaster, Gladiator and Chanter open in S tier on the strength of solo dominance, bruiser consistency, and party-wide buffs respectively. Assassin headlines A tier as the highest-ceiling class in the game, while Ranger and Sorcerer round out B tier as viable-but-outshone picks. No class sits in C tier yet.
This list is revisited after every balance patch. When Brawler arrives on global servers it will be ranked here, and any class that moves tiers will get an explanation of what changed and why. A class moves when its power shifts relative to the rest of the roster — not because of a single strong performance, but because a patch, a gear threshold, or a meta discovery changes what it can do.
Spacetime Rift timer
Rifts open 8 times a day, every 3 hours, with only a 10-minute entry window — missing one costs you hours. Our Spacetime Rift timer and quest guide counts down the next opening in your local time and walks through all 7 quests, rewards, and spawn locations for both factions.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the best class in Aion 2?
- Spiritmaster is the consensus S-tier pick at launch — the strongest solo class with top-tier control and damage. Gladiator and Chanter round out S tier as the best melee bruiser and the most in-demand support respectively.
- What is the best class for PvP in Aion 2?
- For PvP, Spiritmaster and Gladiator lead S tier thanks to their control and survivability. Assassin is the A-tier burst pick with the highest skill ceiling — devastating in the right hands, punishing for beginners.
- Is Spiritmaster good in Aion 2?
- Yes. Spiritmaster is widely considered the best all-round class at launch: S tier for solo play, PvE, and PvP. Its spirits tank damage while you stay safe, making it forgiving to learn and oppressive to master.
- What is the best solo class in Aion 2?
- Spiritmaster is the best solo class — its pets handle tanking while you deal damage from safety. Assassin is the high-risk alternative for skilled solo PvP players.
- When is Brawler coming to the global version of Aion 2?
- Brawler launched in the Korean version in July 2026 and has not been announced for the global release yet. This tier list covers the 8 launch classes only and will be updated when Brawler arrives.
- How often is this Aion 2 tier list updated?
- After every major balance patch. Rankings reflect the launch meta (October 2026) based on community consensus from r/Aion2 and streamer tier lists. Check the "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
- Should beginners play Assassin?
- You can, but it punishes mistakes harder than any other class. Gladiator or Ranger will feel far more forgiving while you learn the game.
- Is Templar worth maining?
- Yes, if you have a static group that plays around your tanking. Solo, it's slow — that's the trade-off.
- Which class gets groups fastest?
- Chanter and Cleric. Parties actively look for them, so you'll spend less time waiting for invites and more time playing.
- Can I solo as a support class?
- Chanter manages, but slowly. If you mostly play alone, Spiritmaster or Gladiator will feel much better.
Bottom line
Spiritmaster is the best all-round main for launch. Gladiator is the safest melee pick you’ll never regret. Chanter is the class every group actually needs. Everything else is strong if it matches how you like to play.
The real question isn’t what ranks highest. It’s what you’ll still enjoy playing three months from now.
